A Chat with a Local Conveyancer
Join us for 5 minutes with local Conveyancer Melissa. Discover why she has chosen to stay and work in Wollondilly since she was just 5 years old and what makes her role at Coutts Lawyers & Conveyancers so successful.
Let’s kick this off with a little bit about yourself?
I moved to Picton when I was 5 years old with my family. I attended Picton Public School and Picton High School. I’m still a local today and love living in the Dilly with my husband and our two sons. I’ve been involved with a lot of local sports clubs growing up and now proudly get to watch my boys play for local teams.
What about where you work?
I’m a Licensed Conveyancer at Coutts who provide a legal service to the local Wollondilly area. I’ve been with Wollondilly & The NSW Conveyancing Centre since 2002 and stayed on when Coutts took over in 2019.
The best part of my job is helping people sell and purchase their property, it’s so rewarding to see the excitement on settlement day!
What makes your business successful?
Definitely the clients! I have a lot of returning clients or people who have heard about us from others, word of mouth is definitely a compliment.
How do you adapt to change?
Conveyancing has changed a lot in the 25 years that I’ve been involved in the industry, so you have to be able to adapt to change. Some changes aren’t as easy to get used to, but eventually you get there.
Other than where you work, which Dilly business is your favourite?
That’s too hard to answer! I support a lot of local businesses such as Pheasants Nest Produce, Dee-Jays Hair & Beauty, Exotic Skin Co and Quarryman Surf...just to name a few
Where do you pick up your morning coffee in the Dilly?
I typically pick up my delicious morning hot chocolate from Espresso Lane in Tahmoor.
And just a few last fun ones… What do you like to do in your spare time?
I live with males, so there is normally some type of sport on my television! We recently purchased a caravan so enjoy weekend trips away. I also like a good catch-up with family and friends.
What is your favourite band and a memory that goes with it?
I’m a fan of 80’s music, but do like most kinds of music. It reminds me of going to places to see music live when I was younger and makes me relax
