Let's start off with a little bit about yourself
When I was 16, a book on natural therapies and healing sparked a lifelong passion for helping others enhance their health and relieve pain. In our busy lives, self-care often takes a backseat, but I believe it’s essential, especially a long, rejuvenating massage. I’m also deeply connected to nature, enjoying the simple pleasure of growing fresh veggies in our garden and creating inviting outdoor spaces for my family and our two dogs.
And about your business?
Serenity Healing Massage was founded in 2013, born out of my deep passion for massage therapy and a strong commitment to promoting self-care. My journey began with a focus on the flowing Hawaiian Kahuna style of massage and Hot Stone techniques, which allowed me to start my practice from a home-based clinic and rented spaces throughout the Wollondilly area.
To better serve my clients and address their pain and dysfunction more effectively, I pursued a diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy. This advanced training allowed me to elevate the quality of care, expand our services to include private health clients, and offer the added convenience of HICAPS rebates.
As my practice grew, I deepened my study of Heart Works Lomi Lomi massage and facilitation, eventually offering both live-in retreat-style and live-out day classes locally and interstate. Encouraging my family to join the field, I’m proud to say that two of them are now fully qualified and working alongside me.
Today, Serenity Healing Massage offers a comprehensive range of therapies, including Remedial, Hot Stone, Hawaiian-style Lomi Lomi and Kahuna, Sports, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Body Scrubs and Wraps, Cupping, Dry Needling, and a line of self-care products. Our mission is to create a wellness sanctuary where clients can experience profound healing, deep relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Why Wollondilly for your business?
I have lived in and around the Dilly all my life. Over 34 years ago, my husband and I had the choice of buying a tiny block in Narellan or a large block in Yanderra. We instantly fell in love with the little village surrounded by beautiful bushland and wildlife. Wollondilly is a wonderful community to work, live, and play.
What makes your business successful?
At Serenity Healing Massage, our success is built on being deeply people-oriented, with our clients' needs always at the centre of everything we do. We take the time to understand each individual's unique requirements, whether they seek remedial care or relaxation, and provide personalised, compassionate treatment that reflects this understanding.
We go beyond the treatment room by helping clients identify the root causes of their pain and guiding them on steps to recovery and prevention. This includes a combination of in-clinic massage, tailored exercises, proper posture guidance, and specific stretches. Collaboration is also key to our success. We work closely with local healthcare professionals to ensure our clients receive the most comprehensive care possible, resulting in the best outcomes for their health and well-being.
What's your proudest accomplishment?
Teaching others the art of heartworks Lomi Lomi massage and watching students grow in confidence when first learning to massage another person is special.
Do you have any new plans for your business you would like to share?
We’re excited to be expanding our self-care product line to include candles, which will join our range of natural offerings like magnesium sprays, bath soaks, scrubs, and massage oils. These products, free from unnecessary chemicals, will be available both online and in our clinic, enhancing your self-care routine.
Other than your own business, which Dilly business is your favourite?
Hippy Luxe is a gem! Kim and her team are always ready to help you find the perfect dress or that last-minute gift, complete with complimentary wrapping.
What is your favourite Dilly town and why?
Picton is my favourite Dilly town. There is much to choose from, to shops, cafes, and pubs to a walk or picnic in the Picton Botanical Gardens. Now, with the new Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre, I look forward to seeing more live acts, theatre, and events.
What is a must-see or do in Wollondilly and why?
The walking trails of Thirlmere Lakes, and Burragorang Lookout are natural treasures that are a perfect escape from the day-to-day and an excellent way to recharge in nature.
Just for fun....what did you want to be when you were young?
A potions maker! It seems I’ve come full circle, blending oils and creating natural remedies. Naturopathy might be my next adventure.
